Trauma can affect how people think, feel, relate, and engage with care. This six-hour course introduces the foundational principles of trauma-informed practice and explores how trauma can shape physiological, psychological, and relational functioning. Participants will learn practical ways to enhance safety, relational attunement, and compassionate care across a wide range of healthcare settings.
The course is structured around the three pillars of trauma-informed practice: Safety, Relationship, and Compassion, and includes video lectures, guided reflection, and practical insights that can be integrated into everyday professional interactions.
This training provides foundational knowledge and is suitable for practitioners who wish to incorporate trauma-informed principles within their existing scope of practice.

Participants will receive access to recorded video lectures, reflective exercises, and downloadable resources. The course can be completed at a time and pace that suits your schedule.

Participants can enrol and complete the six hours of content at their own pace. Access will be provided once registration is confirmed.
This course is intended for all healthcare practitioners working with people who may be affected by trauma, including:
No prior trauma training is required. The course provides a clear and accessible introduction to trauma-informed practice across healthcare contexts.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
• Understand trauma using a research-informed framework
• Recognise how trauma can affect physiological, psychological, and relational functioning
• Identify how the nervous system shapes experiences of safety, threat, and stress
• Understand the developmental impact of childhood trauma and attachment disruption
• Apply trauma-informed principles to enhance safety and relational attunement in practice
• Integrate compassion as a guiding stance in professional interactions
• Develop greater awareness of practitioner wellbeing and the impact of vicarious trauma

Duration: 6 hours (three modules of approximately two hours each)
